Children’s Books are play a very important role in learning and mastering a language.The compilation of Children’s Books involves the classification of reading.Foreign countries,especially English-speaking countries,have done a lot of research on Children’s Grading Reading and Grading Standards,but domestic doesn’t pay enough attention to Children’s Grading Reading.Besides,it has not been formulated a scientific grading reading standards yet.There are many problems with the published Chinese Children’s Books,such as different standards of writing,uneven quality of reading materials and lack of originality.How many reading vocabularies do children master will affect their reading level to a great extent.In order to improve children’s reading ability,we should formulate a set of graded reading standards for children,in other words,we should formulate a criterion of Lexical Selection for Chinese Children’s Readings.This paper analyzed the differences between English and Chinese children’s core words by investigating English-speaking countries’ standards for grading children’s reading and English-speaking children’s core words.It is believed that the words in Chinese core words should be regarded as the criteria for Grading Children’s Reading,and it is suggested that Children’s Books should be compiled according to the core words,as well as exercise books and CD-ROMs for the corresponding reading materials.At the same time,through the comparison between English and Chinese children’s core words,the Chinese children’s core words are divided into five levels.
