The classroom teaching process mainly includes teachers' teaching and students' learning,which belongs to an interactive system of communication between teachers and students.Standards of English Curriculum for Compulsory Education(Edition 2011)puts forward new requirements for teacher-student interaction in class teaching in the course implementation proposal.Teachers should use various forms of classroom interaction to encourage students to learn and use English in a variety of ways,and try to provide students with opportunities to learn and make use of English through practice.However,in practical teaching environment in class,teacher-student interaction is still difficult to present the teacher-guided and student-based interaction structure.Besides,teachers still lack substantive act in improving the atmosphere of teacher-student speech interaction and inspiring students' verbal interaction.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the current situation of speech interaction between teachers and students in English class.This study is guided by the iFIAS,making use of the methods of literature review,classroom observation,ratio analysis and matrix analysis in iFIAS,to make data collection,statistics and analysis of 6 conventional classroom teaching of 6 teachers from each 2 classes in the first,second and third grades of a junior middle school in Shihezi,Xinjiang.This study tries to explore the following questions under the iFIAS: 1.What are the characteristics of teachers' speech interaction part in English class of junior middle school? It includes two sub-questions:(1)What is the tendency of teachers' interactive styles in speech interaction in English class of junior middle school?(2)What are the characteristics of teachers' questioning in the interaction of speech in English class of junior middle school? 2.What are the characteristics of students' speech interaction part in English class of junior middle school? It includes two sub-questions:(1)What's the degree of students' speech engagement in English class of junior middle school?(2)How is the initiative of speech interaction of students in English class of junior middle school? 3.What are the existing problems and optimization strategies for the speech interaction between teachers and students in English class of junior middle school?By making use of the method of teacher-student speech interaction classification and analysis skills provided by iFIAS,this study finds the following phenomenon: 1.In the classroom interaction between teachers and students,teachers lack instructional discourse,and their questioning skills need to be improved.In particular,teachers tend to exert direct influence on students and the knowledge explanation of them takes up the main part of the speech interaction in the class.What's more,less questioning speech is used in the class and the ratio of teachers' open questions is bigger than closed questions.2.Teachers play a leading role in speaking in the class,and students' initiative needs to be improved.In particular,the average of student's discourse ratio in the class is less than teacher's and students have weaker initiative in speech interaction in the class.3.Teachers have less questioning discourse in the class and they have a low rate of positive feedback,so the questioning skills of them should be enhanced and the feedback literacy should be improved;students lack the subject status in speech interaction and have less initiative in the class,so student-centered,teacher-led class should be implemented and students' initiative should be stimulated;multimedia courseware is used frequently,whose negative impact appears,so it should be used reasonably to improve teaching effectiveness;the teaching atmosphere is dull and the enthusiasm of students needs to be improved,so students should be encouraged to interact in class and be provided with much active atmosphere in the class.This study reflects the specific process of teacher-student's speech interaction and its problems in an intuitive form,and proposes optimized suggestions in order to provide follow-up researchers with a set of operable observation methods of speech interaction in the class.Besides,it also provides reference for the further development of the study in speech interaction between teachers and students in English class of junior middle school.
