Baijiao was one of the representatives of the calligraphers of Tie Xue in the period of the Republic of China.He advocated Tie Xue in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,and finally became a loyal practitioner of the two kings from Tang to Jin Dynasty.He made outstanding contributions to the inheritance and innovation of traditional Tie Xue.In recent years,the calligraphy circle has paid more and more attention to Baijiao,and its value of calligraphy has gradually highlighted.Looking at Baijiao's calligraphy art,it is mainly divided into two parts: calligraphy practice and calligraphy thought.This paper attempts to analyze Baijiao's calligraphy practice and calligraphy thought by means of literature research,image analysis and comparative analysis,and to explore the value and significance of Baijiao's calligraphy at present.The article is completed through four parts.First,the artistic origin of Baijiao calligraphy.The life experience related to Baijiao Calligraphy and its social activities in the Republic of China were investigated to highlight the impact of Baijiao's straightforward temperament,rough life and theinternal environment of the calligraphy circle on the growth of Baijiao Calligraphy.Second,the formation and characteristics of Baijiao calligraphy.Through the interpretation of Baijiao's calligraphy works in different periods,this paper explores the progressive way of Baijiao's calligraphy.The style characteristics of Baijiao's regular script,running script and cursive script are analyzed respectively,and then Baijiao is compared with Shen Yinmo and Wu Yuru,who are the same period's calligraphers,to highlight the uniqueness of Baijiao's calligraphy.Third,Baijiao's calligraphy thought.Baijiao's whole life has formed his own set of calligraphy theory in the process of calligraphy practice.His calligraphy practice and theory are inseparable.Through combing and reading Baijiao's theory of calligraphy,this paper mainly divides it into three parts: the methodology of learning calligraphy,the appreciation of calligraphy and the theory of inscriptions on tablets.Baijiao's calligraphy thought not only has a profound understanding of learning books through practice,but also has a deep and simple interpretation of ancient calligraphy theory,with Baijiao's unique views.Finally,it explores the current value and significance of Baijiao Calligraphy.Through the study of Baijiao's calligraphy and its thoughts,this paper analyses that the formation of Baijiao's calligraphy is closely related to his origin,education,friends and the environment of calligraphy in the Republic of China.Baijiao's calligraphy is mainly composed of regular script,running script and cursive script.The most prominent style is cursive script.It has experienced the exploratory period and gradual change period,and finally matured,forming a clear,steady and flowing style of cursive script.Baijiao's thought of calligraphy comes from practice and guides practice,which complements each other.It is of great significance for the inheritance and development of current calligraphy to attach importance to the relationship between personality and books.
