A Report On The Translation Of Science Fiction Dark Sky From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

The development of science is inseparable from the improvement of people’s consciousness.Science fiction plays an important role in the improvement of the quality of people’s literature and scientific literacy.Chinese science fiction has been booming in recent years,and a lot of prestigious works have been translated into Chinese.But science fiction is hard to break through its original reader circle into the general field of view.So we should translate more classic and popular science fiction into China to attract more readers.In this way,we can use novels as a channel to disseminate scientific knowledge and enhance the public’s scientific literacy.In this hope,the translator takes the science fiction,Dark Sky,as the source text,and analyzes the unique challenges that translators might face in the translation practice of science fiction.Based on previous studies of sci-fi translation,from the perspective of Newmark’s communicative translation theory,the translator analyzes the translation of science fiction Dark Sky,hoping to make systematic and innovative analytical research of the translation of science fiction.This thesis consists of five parts.The first part introduces various definitions of science fiction.The first chapter introduces the translation project,describes the value and significance of the translation of science fiction in detail,and summarizes the challenges of translating science fiction.Chapter two introduces the communicative translation theory which was applied in this translation practice and points out that the communicative translation theory has a unique guiding role in the translation of science fiction.In the third chapter,the report makes a case study of thetranslation text of Dark Sky.The conclusion part summarizes this translation practice and points out the translator’s deficiencies yet to be improved.
