The French painter Pierre Bonnard is the most accomplished artist of the Nabis. He was influenced by Japanese ukiyo-e,symbolism and impressionism in the early days. His works are characterized by flatness and decoration. He feel and express the world around them with their unique inner feelings. They are revered as "The Nabis of Japan" and "Color Magic".He has achieved very high artistic achievements. He is talented and has a very delicate and keen insight into color.Although many of his works are characterized by impressionism, they are different from impressionism, which is the innovation and development of them. The creation has a strong subjective color and the decorative style has a style combining figuration and abstraction, and similar styles are rare in the past.Although Nabis only existed for a short period of 10 years at the end of the 19 th century,Bonnard played an important role in the relationship between impressionism and fauvism, and was a very important position in art history. The artist, his work and spirit are still influential until today. The first chapter expounds the research background, research significance and purpose of this thesis, clarifies the direction of research, analyzes related literatures, and uses a variety of methods to conduct research. The second chapter describes the historical background of the era in which he lived, explains the background of economic, industrial, scientific and educational aspects at the time, and also describes the process and ideas of the Nabis faction. The third chapter summarizes the three stages of Bonnard's life style development.Bonnard was deeply influenced by Eastern art in his early years, especially the influence of Japanese ukiyo-e.Bonnard absorbed the uvulae's flat and decorative techniques. He also became famous for his success in poster design. At the beginning of the 20 th century,a new collection of art genres raged. When the public's eyes were fresh to the followers of the New Art genre,Bonnard's artistic style reversed the avant-garde art of the time and turned back to the impression. This is also negatively evaluated by the critics at the time. However, his inner strength and loyalty to himself are not simply a continuation of impressionism.Instead,he has developed Impressionism to a new height and formed his own style.Although the content of his work seems to be commonplace,it is not simply a depiction of nature. He is keen on the freedom and practice spirit of impressionism and opposes the objective and objective sketch of impressionism. He added a lot of subjective colors in the picture, emotionally, impressionized, and symbolized the real world, portrayed nature with emotions, portrayed memories, and used the mind to capture a world full of emotions. The fourth chapter analyzes in detail the reasons for the semi-abstraction of Bonnard art style.Bonnard has a self-seeking pursuit of art and has been depicting the inner world of the self from beginning to end.Bonnard's second-half home is fixed, focusing on the landscape of the house and the surrounding area, and also focusing on depicting his wife. With his deep understanding of art and the living environment, his artistic style has been separated from figurative and abstract. To this day,Bonnard's style of painting still has an impact on today's art.Throughout his life,he has been obsessed with pursuing his own artistic path. His works in his later years are still brilliant, glorious and full of vitality. This creative attitude of loyalty to art has a strong practical significance for us,and it also points out the direction for the artistic creation of our young artists and the search for artistic goals.
