From the end of 19th century to the beginning of 20th century, new trend of thought prevailed in Europe and it also affected the traditional art which had been inherited several centuries. At that time, some artists perceived that some new visual methods should be created to represent "the modern age". The transformation of drawing was in evidence during that period.Prerre Bonnard (1867-1947) was a famous modern artist in France, and he was a prior standard-bearer in modern art during the end of 19th century.The author attempts to do some research about the personality and the family background of Prerre Bonnard, about how he transited the spirit of predecessors and shaped his special style in painting, and about how he absorbed the aesthetic sense from the heterogeneity to create uncontrolled style of composition and gorgeous color as well as the light and shade by touching other artistic styles. The author arranges the research sections as follows:The first chapter introduces the art rootstock of Prerre Bonnard. It includes three sections, the first section is "the infection of Impressionism", the second section is "from Impressionism to the Nabis", and the third section is "the art atmosphere of the growing period". This chapter starts with the research of exploring the origin of Bonnard's art.The second chapter is mainly about the speciality of Prerre Bonnard. It is divided into two parts, one is "the spirit quality and style", the other is "the conception and subject matter". This chapter does some research about the content of painting through the two aspects.The third chapter studies the art creation way of Prerre Bonnard. This chapter introduces the characteristics of Bonnard's skill in art mainly through the composition and the color of painting. Moreover, the author selected six famous works of Bonnard and gives some analysis one by one.The last chapter is mainly showing the experience of learning Prerre Bonnard's art. The author also attaches six works of her own to test the result of the research and to discuss the gain and loss with everybody.During the 80 years of his life, Bonnard devoted himself into studying art and pursuing his ideal. He is so diligent and dedicated as to gain excellent achievements and be a great artist never to be forgotten.
