This report is based on the E-C translation of Emotion and Entrepreneurial Cognition,an excerpted chapter from the book Entrepreneurial Cognition: Exploring the Mindset of Entrepreneurs published in 2018.By analyzing the source text from lexical, syntactic and textual level, the translator summarizes the characteristics of the text as follows: in lexical level, the phenomenon of terminologies and polysemy are quite pervasive;in syntactic level, long and complicated sentences with double dashes are widely employed;in textual level, the gender awareness is obviously shown. All of the above could also be considered as translation problems.Later, the translator tackles those problems under the guidance of Register Theory. To be specific, the translator deals with the lexical problems by analyzing the field,to determine the literal meanings of words. The translator deals with the syntactic problems by analyzing the mode,to adjust the sentence structures. And the translator deals with the textual problems by analyzing the tenor,to explore reasons and ways to save the original writing style. Finally, after self-proofreading and peer proofreading, the translator invites the supervisor to further proofread,as an insurance to the quality of translated text.To summarize, this report records the real process of the translation practice, which has certain referential significance for future translation guided by Register Theory.
