Liang qichao once divided Chinese's traditional academic formation into six stages: the scholars of the pre-qin period;Confucian Classics;Wei-jin metaphysics;sui-tang Dynasty Buddhism;neo-confucianism between Song-Ming Dynasty and the textology in Qing Dynasty.As the last stage of Chinese's traditional academic,textology is very different from neo-confucianism in many ways.The reason why neo-confucianism has been take place by the textology triggered the scholars to ponder how it was happening and gave their 's own peculation.After Zhang taiyan and Liang qichao put forward the theory in about 1920 s,they attributed the reason to the strict culture policies in Qing Dynasty,and most of contemporary academics accepted it.Until 1970 s,YU yinshi proposed another kind of interpretation which considered the textology as an independent unity.As for in my thesis,the background of why the weaken neo-confucianism had to imitated Buddhism and Taoism will be discuss at first and then they states the phenomenon of it.Especially described the details of social problems which caused by the action that academics bring Buddhism and Taoism theory into Confucianism.These social crises finally lead to a huge ideological trend which named “anti-heresy” from later Ming Dynasty to middle Qing Dynasty.This thesis will focus on the “anti-heresy” ideological trend and divide the procession of textology's development into three stages according with the scholars' s academic purpose: the first incipient stage was during Ming and Qing Dynasty,mainly criticize the inane style of study which caused by the Wang yangming's philosophy of mind;the second evolution stage was in early Qing Dynasty which emphasis on the discrimination of neo-confucianism's classical literature;the third mature stage was during Qianlong and Jiaqin period,scholars devoted themselves into the work of rebuilding a new Confucian orthodoxy.During these three stages,scholars in Qing Dynasty based on the methods of textual,such as gloss and discrimination,from an anti-heresy visual angel,be aimed at acquaint the real Confucian orthodoxy,working in diligent and researching one after in a long period,that finally lead the textology most prosperous in Qing Dynasty.
