Since the onset of the 1930 s,Yang Hansheng stands as the dominant organizer and leader of our country’s advanced film industry and the important scenario writer.From “Loves and Tears of Tenant”,which is a reflection of the farmers’ armed struggle to the“Eight Hundred Heroes”(Baibai Zhuangshi),which is to publicize nationwide anti-Japanese war,from “A Myriad Twinkling Lights of a City”(Wanjia Denghuo),which describes life of citizens living in the nationalist government’s area to “South in the North”,which eulogizes construction enthusiasm of the people of the New China,Yang Hansheng resorts to film creation to demonstrate vivid living pictures of the Chinese revolution and social life at different stages and show the attachment and devotion to his motherland of a revolutionary.All steps he takes as well as each and every work he creates are all for the revolution and he even devotes himself towards the revolution.In the period of nationwide anti-Japanese war,upholding the task of publicizing “mobilizing the whole public to participate the anti-Japan war in an unified way”,he has created a series of outstanding and excellent films with the contents concerning anti-Japanese way,making great contribution to the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in circle of literature and art.On this foundation,this thesis takes films created in the Rear Area of the Sino-Japanese War time as samples,combines film activities at that time to analyze his works in a relatively comprehensive way and discuss interaction between revolution films and complex social environment in the Rear Area of the Sino-Japanese War time by drawing up the experience gained on key points.This thesis is divided into five chapters.Chapter one mainly discusses background and methods of research and literature review;Chapter two summarizes multiple identities of Comrade Yang Hansheng and transregional activities;Chapter three,four and five investigate,verify and analyze “Eight Hundred Heroes”,“The Youth Men of China”,“Storm on the Border” and “A Japanese Spy” created in the Rear Area of the Sino-Japanese War time.These works stand as the symbol of anti-Japanese films in the Rear Area of the Sino-Japanese War time by their solid humanism,broad mind of national culture and unique style of movies and TVs aesthetics.This thesis sorts to collect and tease historical reality relevant with his creations in the Rear Area of the Sino-Japanese War time to tap into his creative features in this particular period and once again work on the significance and value of restoring these works.All of these effort work for a study of film creation in the Rear Area of the Sino-Japanese War time and supplement the establishment and analysis of the history of Chinese film.
