The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 edition)clearly states that it is necessary to stimulate and cultivate students' interest in learning English so as to enable them to master certain basic knowledge of English and skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing.Reading is an important part of any language teaching,and more attention should be paid to the teaching of English reading aloud in primary school(2012).It can be seen that English reading aloud teaching is an important part of primary school English teaching.This is not only because reading plays an important role in improving students' English expression,listening and speaking ability,but also English reading teaching is directly related to the development of students' English quality.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to explore the current situation and effect of English reading aloud teaching in primary schools under the background of English subject.Based on the reading textbook Good English of the Primary School Affiliated to Xi'an Foreign Language School,under the input and output theory and behaviorism theory,this study investigates the present situation of English reading aloud teaching in the senior grade of the primary school from seven dimensions,including reading interest,reading time,reading form,reading guidance,reading evaluation,reading activities and reading assignments,and through three research methods,including classroom observation,questionnaire and interview,to explore the implementationeffect of English reading aloud teaching in this primary school.During the research,the author has absorbed some excellent English reading aloud teaching methods,such as choosing authentic reading materials,organizing various forms of reading aloud,using positive and encouraging evaluation forms and giving students appropriate incentives,etc.At the same time,the author has also noticed some problems in the teaching of reading aloud in this primary school of senior grade,which include some students' enthusiasm for reading aloud is not very high during the class and the evaluation form is too single in the process of English reading aloud teaching.So according to the findings,the author puts forward some effective measures to improve the teaching of reading aloud in the primary school,which include teachers should actively pay attention to introverted and less expressive students in class and give them more opportunities to perform,as well as using diverse evaluation forms,like the combination of teacher evaluation,peer evaluation and personal evaluation.Based on the above investigation,the author hopes to be helpful to the practice of English reading aloud teaching in the high grade of Primary Schools Affiliated to Xi'an Foreign Language School,and to provide reference for the development of English reading aloud teaching in primary schools of China.
