English Curriculum Standard for Regular Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)points out that senior high school students should master language skills including listening,speaking,reading,watching and writing,and at the same time sets clear requirements for each skill.Writing,as an output-oriented skill,can objectively reflect students' thinking and organizing abilities.The improvement of students' writing level plays an important role in improving their whole English level.However,after several years of English learning,there are still some problems in senior high school students' English writing,such as lack of vocabulary diversity,grammatical errors,and discourse incoherence.Moreover,students' writing anxiety is widespread.These are major problems for teachers and students in English teaching.Aiming at these problems,a large number of scholars have been exploring effective teaching methods.Production-Oriented Approach is put forward by Wen Qiufang to solve the problem of“attaching importance to input but neglecting output”.It combines “input learning” with“output application” closely.Therefore,based on the input hypothesis and the output hypothesis,this study applied the Production-Oriented Approach to senior high school English writing teaching and explored its effects on senior high school students' English writing anxiety and writing ability.A twelve-week teaching experiment was conducted in this study.The subjects of this study were 120 students in Class 5 and Class 6 in Grade 1 from Shanghe No.1 Middle School,Jinan City,Shandong Province.Class 5 was the experimental class and Class 6was the control class.The experimental class adopted Production-Oriented Approach while the control class adopted the traditional product-oriented approach.The main research methods were questionnaires and tests,and SPSS 23.0 was used to analyze the data of the experiment.This study answered the following two questions:1.What is the impact of Production-Oriented Approach on senior high school students' English writing anxiety?2.What is the impact of Production-Oriented Approach on senior high school students' English writing ability?The results of the study show that Production-Oriented Approach can improve senior high school students' confidence in English writing,and to a certain degree,reduce students' writing anxiety.Moreover,Production-Oriented Approach can improve senior high school students' English writing ability.Applying Production-Oriented Approach to English writing teaching has positive effects on the content,vocabulary,grammar and discourse coherence in students' compositions.
