Research On Altruistic Behavior And Abuse Of Power From The Perspective Of Enclothed Cognition

In recent years,China's volunteer organizations have developed rapidly,and volunteers have become a hot topic of social concern.However,due to the short period of development of volunteer organizations in China,the development is still immature,and there are many problems in the actual operation process.General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that volunteer service is an important symbol of social civilization and progress,and an important channel for volunteers to dedicate their love.It is necessary to build more platforms for volunteer service and better play the positive role of volunteer service in social governance.Therefore,how to promote the development of volunteer motives in a favorable direction is a topic worth exploring.Since the introduction of enclothed cognition theory was proposed by researchers such as Adam in 2012,psychologists at home and abroad have verified laboratory clothing,formal clothing(suits),nurses clothing and other aspects,enriching the research field of enclothed cognition,but there is no research on enclothed cognition of volunteer clothing.According to the theory of dressing cognition,the symbolic meaning of volunteer clothing and the physical experience of wearing volunteer clothes will activate the participants' understanding of the identity of volunteers and affect the psychological processes and behaviors of the subjects.Based on the existing literature and social hotspots,this study introduces the theory of enclothed cognition,starting from the symbolic meaning of the sense of responsibility(altruism)and the sense of power(self-interest)of volunteer clothing in the existing research.The altruistic behavior and abuse of power have been studied and discussed.The research is divided into four parts: Study 1 explores the influence of enclothed cognition on pure altruistic behavior,and the results show that there are two different cognitive tendencies in volunteer clothing—responsibility(altruism)and power(self-interest).Both clothing cognitions can promote the creation of pure altruistic behavior.Responsibility affects altruistic behavior more than power.Study 2 explores the impact of enclothed cognition on reciprocal altruism.The results show that both the responsible group and the power group show significant reciprocal altruistic behavior.Study 3 explores the influence of time factors on responsibility consciousness in dressing cognition.The results show that time factors affect the sense of responsibility and power of dressing cognitive activation,increasing the possibility of power abuse behavior,as shown by the responsibility group,the rights group abuse of power occurred earlier.Study 4 explores the impact of peer rights abuse on the relationship between rights and responsibilities in dressing cognition.The results show that the sense of responsibility and power of dressing cognitive activation will be affected by the abuse of peer power,which will reduce the sense of responsibility and improve the sense of power.The imbalance between responsibility and power increases the likelihood that abuse of power will occur.
