| Irrelevant speech effect refers to the phenomenon that verbal stimulus unrelated to memory task interferes with visual memory task.People’s life,work and study are inseparable from the impact of the surrounding environment.For now,college students tend to listen to pop music during the learning process to cover up the noise disturbance of the external environment,or to create a learning atmosphere that they are accustomed to,but ignore the interference caused by the pop music background.At present,the research on irrelevant speech effect mainly focuses on the occurrence mechanism and influencing factors.The content interference hypothesis and state change hypothesis of irrelevant speech effect are widely used theoretical models at present,but it is still not clear whether the mechanism of irrelevant speech effect is caused by the content similarity of cognitive tasks or the interference of speech material to visual material in the processing process.In order to explore the influence of the familiarity and rendering position of irrelevant speech on vocabulary memory tasks,investigate the interaction between the difficulty of visual memory tasks and the familiarity of irrelevant speech,and further enrich the theoretical model of irrelevant speech effect,two studies were designed.The study 1 uses Chinese and English pop music as background music materials to explore the influence of Chinese and English pop music with different rendering positions on Chinese vocabulary memory with high familiarity;On the basis of Study1,Study 2 uses the same Chinese and English pop music materials as background music,transforms the difficulty of Chinese and English vocabulary materials,using Chinese and English words with low familiarity as memorizing materials,explores the influence of Chinese and English pop music in different rendering position on the memorization performance of low-familiar Chinese and English word materials.Get the results: Subjects performed best on tasks without background music.When using Chinese and English pop music as background music,the familiarity of the pop music lyrics will have an impact on irrelevant speech effect.And the degreeof difficulty of visual cognitive task can affect the interference effect of irrelevant speech effect more than the familiarity of irrelevant speech.Background music’s rendering position has an impact on visual cognitive task.When background music is presented in the whole process of cognitive task,the interference degree of irrelevant speech effect is the largest.This study is more inclined to support the process interference hypothesis than the content interference hypothesis of irrelevant speech effect. |
