Spreading doctrines and absorbing believers is an important issue for Christians after they come to China, and the Chinese translation of the Bible is an important part of achieving their goals.By combing the Chinese version of the Bible in the "Chinese Christian bibliographic literature database" and interpreting the Chinese version of the bible, this paper aims to comprehensively show the development process of the Chinese translation of the bible from nestorianism to the founding of new China in 1949,which is a tortuous process of exploration. This paper focuses on the development of Chinese translation of the bible in modern China after Morrison came to China and the sinicization of Christianity in the process.Based on the previous research results, this paper takes the development of the Chinese version of the bible from "all rivers" to "unity" as the main line, and divides the paper into five chapters for discussion. The introduction of this paper introduces the origin and significance of the topic, the review of academic achievements, research methods and innovation, and the structure of the chapter. The first chapter introduces the origin of the Chinese version of the Bible, mainly discusses the origin of the Bible and the name of the Bible, and briefly analyzes the historical background of the Chinese version of the Bible. The second chapter takes the publication of the commissioned translation of the Bible from 1807 to 1854 as the time node, combines the macro overview with the specific analysis, and discusses the Chinese translation of the Bible.First of all,the historical background, the situation of the translated text and the characteristics of the stage are summarized.Secondly, the author takes the changes of the translation activities, the emergence of the translation institutions, the initial forms of Chinese people's role in the process of Chinese translation and the dispute of translation names as three representative contents to make a concrete analysis, and then shows the beginning and difficult exploration of Chinese translation of the Bible in this stage. The third chapter focuses on the changes in the Chinese translation of the Bible and the transformation of Chinese translators from auxiliary to independent translation.First of all,the biggest difference from the previous stage is that the Chinese translation of the Bible started from the three bible societies' separate administration and independent distribution to some bible societies' joint translation.Secondly,it focuses on the rise of the Chinese translator community, which has gradually completed the identity reversal. Finally, three missionary conferences were held to discuss the problems in the missionary work and the problems in the translation of the Bible, which played a crucial role in the improvement of the Chinese version of the Bible.Chapter four focuses on the establishment of the Chinese bible society.First of all,it is analyzed that the establishment of this institution has greatly promoted the Chinese translation of the Bible and played an indispensable role in maintaining the continuity of the Chinese version of the Bible.Secondly, the improvement of the Chinese translation of the Bible has promoted the sinicization of Christianity and the modernization of China. The Chinese translation of the Bible is not only related to the overseas development of the Bible, but more importantly,it serves as the bond and bridge between Chinese and western cultures, which contains the development of Christian communication and the acceptance of foreign religions in Chinese society.Chapter five is the conclusion, which summarizes the translation of the Bible. The Chinese translation of the Bible has experienced an evolving trend from "few" to "a hundred flowers bloom" to "all rivers converge",which is closely related to the social conditions, political background, cultural context and other factors,as well as the degree of sinicization of Christianity.Through five chapters, this paper interprets the difficult attempts and efforts made by christians to adapt to local social conditions after they came to China, and presents the twists and turns of Christianity in China in an all-round way.
