The Artistic Innovation Of Digital Crafts

In the digital era,the impacts of digital technology on crafts include record,enhance,transfer and promote,and even stimulate the birth of “digital crafts”-a new form of craft combining digital technology and traditional craftsmanship.Digital crafts not only have the cultural origin of crafts,but also benefits from the development of industrial technology in the artistic media.It can be regarded as an emerging art form that the art,technology and craft through the primitive unity,the division of industrial society and the integration of the digital age.According to the different extent of involvement and the different functions of digital technology,the digital crafts can be classified into three levels: first,digital technology is an aid to improve the process of making;second,digital technology is not only the main tool,but also the key theme of creation;third,digital technology is the only tool – but if the work is still Craftsmanship becomes problematic.From the aspect of art media and artistic creation,and based on Marshall McLuhan's Media Theory,the paper argue that the artistic innovation of digital crafts embodied in innovative the process,enrich the artistic language and promote the cross-boundary cooperation between the craftsmen,designers and makers.The creation logic of digital craft push boundary between traditional crafts and modern crafts,and expand the space of art creation.However,digital crafts also have limitations in such aspects as the imbalance between "art" and "technology",the differentiation of artistic creation subject,and the absence of "handicraft temperature".Furthermore,this paper also exploring the future development trend of digital crafts.The research significance of this paper are as follows: first,select the artistic practices of digital crafts,and further deepen the research on the integration of art and science by exploring the combination of digital technology and traditional handicraft;second,exploring the emergence and development of digital crafts have certain academic prospects;third,the innovative thinking that stimulates the integration of digital technology and traditional craft,and provides new ideas for contemporary crafts in creative media and development direction.
