Lyric opera originated in France in the second half of the 19 th century.Cournot,as the founder of lyrical opera,has created a number of masterpieces,among which Romeo and Juliet is one of the most popular one.“I wish to live in a dream” is the most famous soprano aria in the opera Romeo and Juliet.The aria is very representative in both vocal singing skills and creative characteristics.As an aria that combines lyricism and drama,it is favored by sopranos.Based on the ontological analysis of music works,this paper first introduces Cournot,the representative of lyric opera,and composing background of this work.Then,this paper briefly introduces the plot of opera and aria and Juliet's characters.Starting from the essence of music,the music analysis of this work is elaborated in detail,and the most representative creative characteristics of the aria are analyzed.This paper makes an analysis of Juliet's personality and inner feelings from two aspects: skillful use of decorative tones and fast up and down of the chromatic scale.Based on my own singing practice,I have made an all-round and in-depth researches on the singing skills and singing processing.This paper analyzed the singer's singing state and breath control,the performance of colorful part of the aria,the expression of emotion and the stage performance.I hope to master the relevant knowledge of the aria “I wish to live in a dream” from all aspects,accurately and meticulously mold the character of Juliet,and perform the aria “I wish to live in a dream” in a more perfect state.
