The Thought Connotation And Modern Significance Of Mou Zongsan's "the Third-Period Development Of Confucianism"

After the May 4th movement,the contradiction between Chinese and western cultures was very prominent.At the critical moment when the traditional Confucianism was facing the discontinuous survival,the modern neo-confucianists deeply reflected on the Chinese culture and carried on the new interpretation and transformation to the traditional Confucianism one after another.They insist on the subjectivity of Confucian values to Chinese society.Based on the tragedy of the nation and The Times,mou zongsan is committed to seeking the path to realize the modernization of Chinese culture.He put forward the theory of "three periods of development of Confucianism".The neo-confucianism of song and Ming dynasties was the second development of Confucianism.Modern Confucianism for the third period of development.Most of mou zongsan's philosophical thoughts are about how to promote the third period of Confucianism.The main task of the third period of the development of Confucianism is to solve the problem of how to develop a new king from the inner sanctity,that is,how to develop the science and democracy in the western modern sense from the inherent virtue of the Confucian tradition,that is,how to change the "virtue subject" from the "intellectual subject" to adapt to the modern development.On this basis,mou zongsan clearly put forward the ideological program of "three unification and construction" as the third period of the development of Confucianism,that is,on the basis of recognizing the traditional status of Confucianism,to answer the question of how to establish science and democracy.He also put forward the theoretical theory of "conscience depression" which runs through all the development stages of his philosophy.He believed that science and democracy in the modern sense could not be directly derived from the traditional theory of inner sanctity in China,but a turning process with a winding and continuous process,which should be realized through conscience self-depression.This article attempts through to the mou zongsan's phase 3 development background,the inherent requirement and explore the path to the three parts areanalyzed and summarized,in order to the third phase of development has a comprehensive grasp and understanding,and then discuss the Confucian concept of the third period of development in today's society,the important meaning in the globalization of guidance of Chinese philosophy and the philosophical indicator of the future.
