English writing always takes a large proportion of the total score in College Entrance Examinations.In spite of some changes to College Entrance Examinations,English writing is a fixed part,which shows the significance of English writing as to high school students' English comprehensive ability.In the English study,English writing is widely acknowledged as the most difficult part of the four basic skills of English learning.English writing ability not only demonstrates students' English output level,but also is the reflection of English comprehensive ability.However,English writing teaching is not put in a significant place in the teaching process and students didn't get satisfactory academic achievements of English writing.The performance of high school students' English writing is influenced by many factors.As one of the most influential factors,anxiety does play an important role in English writing.Despite many studies on English writing anxiety,there are few studies taking high school students as subjects.This thesis makes an investigation of the general situation of English writing anxiety of high school students in the selected high school.The study is meant for finding out the root causes of high school students' English writing anxiety and providing some suggestions and measures to reduce the writing anxiety.The research questions are listed as follows:(1)What is the general degree of English writing anxiety of senior high school students?(2)What are the causes of senior high school students' writing anxiety?In the study,120 senior high school students in Grade One and Grade Two are taken as the subjects.The author processes the data collected from the questionnaire and results from the interview with the assistance of Statistical Package for the social Science(SPSS23.0).Thus the author can conclude the current situation of senior high school students' English writing anxiety,the reasons for senior high schoolstudents writing anxiety and offer the practicable measures and suggestions to reduce the English writing anxiety.Based on the analysis of research findings,high school students in the selected high school suffer a high level of English writing anxiety.The main reason for English writing anxiety on them is that they don't master necessary and adequate writing knowledge.In addition,and the lack of writing practice is another root cause.Finally,based on the current situation of high school students,the author provides some suggestions for both teachers and students to reduce students' English writing anxiety and promote teachers' English writing teaching.
