Fan Zhongyan was a famous writer of memorial essays in the Northern Song Dynasty.His Memorial essays not only reflected his idea of governing the country but also demonstrated the admonishing style as generation of admonishers.This paper takes 210 memorial essays written by Fan Zhongyan as the research object,and sorts out the characteristics of his essays classification,structure of article,ideological connotation and linguistic features.In terms of essays classification,Fan Zhongyan's essays can be divided into five types,Biao,Zhuang,Shu,Zhazi and Zou.Among them,the number of Zou is the largest,followed by Biao and Zhuang,and the number of Zhazi and Shu is the smallest.In terms of structure of article,Fan Zhongyan' memorial essays,as a whole,showed the characteristic of "differences within similarities,but different in style".the five kinds of memorials are different in structure.In terms of ideological connotation,Fan Zhongyan's memorial essay had rich ideological connotation,which is embodied in recommended talents and suppresed redundancy,encouraged learning and educated talents,focused on agriculture,strengthen national defense,etc,covered the four aspects of politics,education,people's livelihood and border defense.In terms of language features,we can find that Fan Zhongyan liked speak frankly,showed a direct,elegant and other characteristics.In addition,he was skillful in rhetoric and was good at used rhetoric and allusions to provided strong support for his views and added elegance to the beauty of the Memorial essays.Through the analysis of stylistic classification,stylistic structure,ideological content and linguistic features,this paper analyzes the overall appearance of his writing.
