Nowadays,with the development of English education,the teaching of reading has become increasingly important in senior high schools and it has become an important part of English teaching.As the proverb goes in China,“student who gets good grade in English reading part must be excellent in his total grade.” So we can see how essential the reading is.Up to now,many researchers and linguists have studied from vocabulary and grammar,but only a small part of research pay attention to the reading aspect.However,in terms of actual situation in senior high schools,there are still lots of problems which need to be solved in reading aspect,and the quality of reading is rather low.So by investigating the factors influencing reading teaching during internship in the high school,the author aims at revealing the current problems in reading teaching and wants to explore the subjective and objective factors affecting the improvement of students' ability in reading teaching,and then puts forward some suggestions for English reading teaching in senior high schools from a new perspective.This study analyzes factors in reading teaching by taking English teachers and students of Grade Two from a senior high school in Shuozhou as investigation objects.The research combines investigation questionnaires with interviews by focusing on three issues as follows:What is the current situation of English reading teaching in senior high schools?What are the factors that affect the teaching of English reading in senior high schools?What are the teaching strategies for influencing the factors of English reading teaching in senior high schools?By collecting,classifying and analyzing data,the study thoroughly clarifies the status of reading teaching;analyzes the influencing factors of English reading teaching;proposes recommendations which can improve senior high school English reading teaching.The results shows that the existing problems are: the reading class is basically teachercentered,and there is no clear goal in teaching.In improving reading,doing much exercise and promoting psychological development of students,teachers and students have ignored a lot.In class,there isn't a long-term,effective feedback mechanism,and students only do reading for scores.They don't have interest,good reading habits,and even cannot use reading strategies flexibly.In terms of reading materials,there are not easy and suitable reading materials,nor very interesting materials.There are three main factors affecting the teaching of reading: teachers,students and reading materials,that is,textbooks.On the part of teachers,many teachers still focus on vocabulary and grammar,and don't grasp the reading strategies and concept well.Their own level and ideas also have an impact on the teaching of reading.On the part of students,their reading motivation is not sheer enough,their reading attitude is not very correct,and they are also influenced by natural language,interpersonal and psychological factors,which are also very important factors.In terms of reading materials,because most of the reading materials are from textbooks,there is no material suitable for students at different levels,which also affects teaching greatly.The author's teaching recommendations are: teachers should update teaching concepts,improve the literacy,change teaching strategy,help students develop good reading habits,and teach reading strategy according to student's actual level.Besides,teachers should pay attention to students' personality and psychological and conduct teaching with specific target.Furthermore,teachers should work in groups,such as teaching and research sections,to collect and classify reading materials then gradually form reading material data base.
