Quanzhen Taoism was a dominant sect of Taoist in the north during the Jin and Yuan Dynasty,while Shandong was an important region for its foundation and spread.However,the development of Quanzhen Taoism in Jinan has been underestimated because of the lack of historical sites and literatures.It was not until the Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription has been unearthed in 1985 before the history of Quanzhen Taoism development and spread in Jinan has been unveiled.Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription is a few large-scale early stone inscriptions with official background unearthed in the downtown of Jinan.It has not been recorded for historical reasons.It is an important historical data to fulfill omits and detailed data in history records.Firstly,the reason of its missing has been analyzed with its historical background in this article.The erection history of Huayang Palace and Yingxiang Palace have been deeply discovered by interpreting the contents of the inscription,therefore,the spread and influence of the Quanzhen Taoism during Jin and Yuan Dynasty in Jinan have been unveiled.Especially,it features the characteristics of the combination with Jinan's regional culture in the construction of the temple,the establishment of Buddharupas,etc.,as well as the unique characteristics of regional development.Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription was an integral part of the development of Quanzhen Taoism and been regarded as a microcosm of Quanzhen Taoism spread in local areas,although only 103 years of Quanzhen Taoism spreading in Jinan development have been recorded on the inscription.Base on the Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription and other historical literatures including chorography and stone inscriptions,some 17 Taoist temples and palaces built during Jin and Yuan Dynasty have been recognized in Jinan,which attest perfectly that Jinan was an important region of Quanzhen Taoism spreading in Shandong.Jinan and Mount Tai,as two central regions of Quanzhen Taoism spreading in western Shandong were closely linked and the Taoist exchanged continue to sketch out the outline of Quanzhen Taoism unearth in the western part of Shandong.Thanks to the Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription excavation,the above said achievements have not drowned in history wer derived from a group of obscure Taoist priests.Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription was co-authored by two historical celebrities in Jinan-Zhang Qiyan and Zhang Yanghao.The two gathered in Jinan for reasons which enables them to co-author the inscription,therefore,the historical and culture connotation of the Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription have been enhanced.Unearth of Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription was meaningful in Jinan cultural history,especially on the research of Quanzhen Taoism spreading in Jinan during Jin and Yuan Dynasty,which was a faithful witness and historical record holder.It valuable for fulfill omits of history records.I hope that Yingxiang Palace Stone Inscription will be included in the Quanzhen Taoism research field and be regarded as it reserved through this article.
