Recommendations To Realize Text Functions In Chinese-English Translation Of White Paper On Investment

In the context of economic globalization,many cities are taking measures to attract foreign investment for further economic growth.With an aim to realize its vocative function and to attract investment,a white paper on investment allows foreign investors to catch a glimpse of the investment destination.Therefore,the translation quality of this type of text will impact the quality of publicity and even investment promotion.Based on the translation of 2018 Shanghai White Paper on Foreign Investment,this paper summarizes the textual features of this white paper on investment,and discusses difficulties the translator encountered.In order to realize its vocative and informative function and convey information effectively and efficiently to target audiences,the paper explores several feasible translation strategies by comparing examples of the original translation and the revised version,including restructuring,extracting implicit information,writing phases,highlighting the actor,selecting vivid and expressive words,eliminating redundancies and interpreting.It is hoped that this paper will offer a useful reference for the translation of similar texts.
