A Report On Computer-Aided E-C Translation Of Two "RFID" Papers

In recent years,the field of Artificial Intelligence(AI)witnessed increasingly more rapid development and involves in all aspects of our daily life,which has changed our lifestyles and promoted the development of society to a great degree.This report studies the English-Chinese translation of two technical articles,"Verifiable Smart Packaging with Passive RFID" and "RF-Mehndi:A Fingertip Profiled RF Identifier",both of which are related with the appliance of AI.As a specific genre,the original English language is characterized by conciseness,objectivity and preciseness.The report is divided into four chapters.In Chapter One,the basic information of the translation project is introduced including the source and the subject.Chapter Two is about the translation process,including preparation for the translation,problems in the translation and proofreading after translation.In preparation phase,the CAT(computer-aided translation)tool SDL Trados Studio 2017 is choosen based on the analysis of the characteristics of the source text and the source text is converted into editable text.In translating phrase,the focus is put on the choice of terminology and processing of graphs and pictures.In proofreading phase,the translated text will further polished and the term base expanded.Chapter Three elaborates the main problems encountered during translation mainly form three aspects,namely,the conversion of text for Trados,the problems both in source text and target text;and the corresponding methods to deal with them are demonstrated.Chapter Four is the summary of this project including the experience acquired,the potential improvement and expectation of the future work.The report makes a sound case analysis,in which the problems in the translation process are analyzed in details and solutions are offered accordingly.It is hoped to be of certain significance for the English-Chinese translation of sci-tech text.It's also concluded that "MT+PE" will surly become the trend in the translation industry and a necessary skill for translators to master in the age of informationization.
