Radio-frequency identification(RFID),as a basic technology in the era of information, has promoted the development of the Internet of Things.Translation of this RFID specification is to provide professional references for Development & Research(D&R)workers, designers and supervisors, together with amateurs for radio, electron and RFID.The source text of radio-frequency identification features formal, accurate and objective statement, coupled with standard language, strict logic and concentrated technical terms.Based on the Skopos Theory, the author of this report translates the first six chapters of the specification. In order to achieve the purpose of the translation project, the author of the report adheres to the three rules of Skopos Theory closely, including the skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule.Under the skopos rule, the author of the report tries her best to take professional diction to express the meaning of the source text,so as to meet the professional requirements.Under the coherence rule, the author of the report takes various translation skills to make the translation cohesive and fluent in the target language, such as alteration in word order, conversion of part of speech, conversion of voice, segment of long sentence and amplification.Under the fidelity rule, the author of the report holds that the fidelity should be realized in the meaning of the source text, but not in the form of the source text. Therefore, literal translation and free translation should be used flexibly to conform to the fidelity rule as appropriate in accordance with the content of FRID specification.Skopos Theory is quite practical in translation of scientific and technical text.Under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos Theory, the author of the report finishes the translation of Radio-frequency identification, and achieves the purpose set by the entruster. This translation report provides references for translations of scientific and technical texts like radio-frequency identification in the future. When it comes to translations in this field, the translator should take the skopos rule as the first priority.Coherence rule and fidelity rule should serve the achievement of the translation purpose.
