On The English Translation Of Indigenous Concepts In The Governance Of China From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

The Governance of China volume II was published in October2017,which reflects the main contents of Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era,record China's national circumstances,principles and policies vividly.It has opened a window for foreign readers to understand a leader,a country,and a civilization for thousands of years,and has become one of the most influential writings of leaders in today's world.However,current research on the translation of the indigenous concepts of The Governance of China volume II is not common,which is the purpose of this research by an English-Chinese bilingual database.This research selects the indigenous concepts in The Governance of China volume II and its English translation as the research object and self-complies.Taking Vermeer's skopos theory as it theoretical basis,the research attempts to explore the translation pattern of indigenous concepts in The Governance of China volume II.Moreover,compared with the research result of He Yuanjian,it is hoped that it may lead to probes the translation principle of political texts.It is found that:(1)there 503 indigenous concepts in The Governance of China volume II in total,which can be divided into linguistic indigenous concepts,political indigenous concepts,social indigenous concepts,economical indigenous concepts,respectively 227,148,66,40,22.(2)The translator mainly uses five translation strategies:trans-coding,paraphrasing,synthesization,substitution,deletion and the translation pattern of the indigenous concepts in The Governance of China volume II is trans-coding > paraphrasing > synthesization >substitution > deletion(“>” reference more than)(3)Only by choosing a suitable translation strategy according to the context can we complete the translation task and truly achieve the purpose of cross-cultural communication.In short,the translation pattern of the indigenous concepts in the literary texts and the political text are not the same.In order to retain the indigenous concepts in the source text to the greatest extent,when the indigenous concepts are translated in the political texts,translators tend to apply the translation pattern as trans-coding> paraphrasing>synthesization> substitution> deletion to realize effectiveness and success in publicity translation.
