Hemingway was one of the important writers in the world in the 20 th century.He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954.In Hemingway's short stories,the Nick Adams stories are very special.Hemingway wrote 24 short stories in the during 10 years.This article starts from the Nick Adams stories,explores the value and significance of the works,and aims to comprehensively analyze and grasp the series of novels.In addition to the introduction,the thesis is divided into three chapters.The introduction briefly introduces the works included in the Nick Adams stories and the current status of domestic and foreign research on this topic.The first chapter mainly combs the relationship between Hemingway's life experience and the creation of Nick Adams stories,and analyzes the autobiographical components of the novel.This chapter is divided into three parts based on Hemingway's early experiences as a standard,which are Hemingway's childhood experience,war experience,and post-war return.Combining Hemingway's experience and the novel's text,it is not difficult to find that Hemingway gave Nick a growth environment and life experience similar to himself.Many chapters in the stories have the shadow of Hemingway's self-experience.They were all born in northern Michigan,have a similar family background,love the natural environment,were wounded in war and so on.It can be said that the stories originated from Hemingway's life,and it was the result of the writer's artistic processing of his own experience.The second chapter starts from the specific text,and discusses the process of Hemingway's characterization of Nick Adams and the uniqueness of Nick's image.Nick experienced a growth process from childhood to middle age in the novel.His personality traits are also constantly changing,and finally show the characteristics of the standard hero.Nick experienced different external influences in different periods.His childhood was mainly a process of seeing social violence and understanding death.During the war,he was confused because of his physical and mental damage.After the war,he was in the stage of reflection and growth.Nick's experience is destined to be invariant in character,which makes him different from other standard hero images in Hemingway's writing,thus constituting the uniqueness of the image.The third chapter focuses on the diversified writing of Nick Adams stories,and aims to analyze the richness and profoundness of the text content.This chapter starts from the three aspects of Indian writing,natural writing,and war writing,and explores the profound reflection of the Nick Adams stories on the times.Hemingway's work closely follows the pulse of the times,and the Nick Adams stories is no exception.The novel is like a mirror,reflecting the crisis under the prosperity of the times.Indian writing focuses on the chapters of the Nick series that involve Indian subjects.Based on the writer's reflection on the living conditions of Indians,he analyzes the racial consciousness and humanistic care of the writer.Natural writing focuses on the natural scenery in the novel and analyzes Hemingway's writing of natural Function and purpose;war writing focuses on war works in the series of novels,analyzing the writer's performance and reflection on war.
