Western post-modernism term the "Other" shows a new direction and brings vitality to the realm of translation studies, and the Cultural "Other" also brings a new field and perspective to translation studies. As the subject of translation, the translator's attitude towards the Cultural "Other" directly governs the choice of translation strategies, which in turn determines the final form of the version and the success of the translation."Yimakan" is a kind of heroic epics of Hezhe people, and there exists the Cultural"Other" of Hezhe and the Cultural "Other" of English from the perspective of the "Self"Culture of Han represented by the translators in the English translation of "Yimakan".Taking the Cultural "Other" theory as the theoretical frame, this thesis probes into the translators'attitudes towards the Cultural "Other" of Hezhe and the Cultural "Other" of English based on example analysis of research methods and translation strategies. In addition, this thesis discusses the positive significance of this kind of translation in promoting the spread of "Yimakan" and Hezhe culture around the world, and provides reference and guidance for the theoretical study and specific translation practice of Chinese minority classics. The results are as follows:Firstly, through ethnopoetics and foreignization translation strategy, the translators fully respect the Cultural "Other" of Hezhe.Secondly, the translators take full account of the Cultural "Other" of English by adopting domestication, poeticization and compensation translation strategies.Thirdly, the translation of "Yimakan" from the perspective of the Cultural "Other" helps to highlight the Hezhe culture worldwide and promote equal dialogue. At last, the translators should correctly handle the relationship between the "Self" culture and the "Other" culture in an inclusive manner to make the translation both national and readable in the English translation of Chinese minority classics.Meanwhile, the translators should also pay attention to the role of paratext in raising readers' understanding and respect for the Cultural "Other" so as to better promote Chinese culture "going out".
