Since the establishment in 2007,the Master of Translation and Interpreting(MTI)has experienced more than a decade of development in China. In the past years of development, the MTI programs have born great fruit but also faced many challenges.“The Belt and Road”postulated by President Xi Jinping has ushered the translation industry in China into a new era when the priority of translation is shifted from importing foreign cultures to exporting Chinese elements. Therefore, the demand for high-level translation talents has increased greatly. The MTI training institutions,as the supply unit of translation talents in China, should undertake the new historical tasks. In this thesis, the author teases out the previous researches on the MTI programs in China,as well as the achievements of Western academic circles on translation training. It is found that not too many researchers noticed the importance of market demands in promoting the development of the MTI programs. In order to solve the problem, the author uses the theory of supply-side structural reform to demonstrate that the MTI programs provided by different universities need reforming to adapt to market needs. In other words, the MTI programs,as the supply side of high-level translation and interpreting talents, need to make a certain degree of adjustment in order to meet the requirements of the demand side.On the basis of the theory of supply-side structural reform, the author designed a questionnaire. The questionnaire contains 46 questions that are mainly related to five major aspects, namely the basic information of the participants, the working status, the further training of the translators and interpreters, participants’ satisfaction rate with their university education, and computer-aided translation technology. The questionnaire was disseminated through the network and the data was collected through the platform named Wenjuanxing.Thereafter, the statistical analysis software of the Wenjuanxing platform was used to analyze the data and present the data in the form of charts. In the thesis, the author analyzes the data offered by the demand side and makes findings.Researches show that China’s translation market needs high quality and comprehensive translation talents. At present, the MTI programs do not perfectly integrate the specialist knowledge with the translation courses, and translators and interpreters have high trainingrequirements for computer-aided translation courses. In addition, the recognition of the national translation qualification certificate in the translation market needs to be improved. This also requires the MTI programs provided by different universities to guide the market, and regulate the translation market. In response to the conclusion, some suggestions for the MTI programs are proposed. The recommendations include the adjustment of the MTI courses, strengthening the cooperation between the MTI programs provided in different universities and enterprises, strengthening the connection between the MTI programs and the national translation qualification examination, and controlling the quality at the enrollment of the MTI learners.
