In the past two decades,it has become the common vision of foreign language educators and researchers to cultivate learners' autonomous learning ability.The focus of foreign language teaching and research is from the object to the subject,and then to the individual differences of students.Learning style is one of them,reflecting the application and development of psychology in foreign language teaching.At present,the research on learning style at home and abroad mainly focuses on the group of college students,less on senior high school students.In order to better understand the overall situation of high school students' learning style,this paper summarizes the research on learning style over the years based on the theory of humanism,constructivism and multiple intelligence,and combs the definitions and types of learning style.In this study,Reid's perceptual learning style questionnaire(plspq)was used to investigate the students in four classes of a middle school in Hanzhong City,Shaanxi Province.During the author's internship,10 classes of senior one and senior two were observed in class.According to the results of students' questionnaire survey,10 students of senior one and senior two were selected as the subjects and interviewed one-to-one to explore the overall distribution of English learning style of senior high school students and whether there is significant difference between their English learning style,gender and performance differences.The results show that:(1)most senior high school students have many types of learning styles.Among the six perceptual learning styles,visual,tactile,auditory,group,kinesthetic and individual,the most popular learning styles of senior high school students are visual,auditory and kinesthetic,and the least popular learning style is group.(2)In addition to the tactile perceptual learning style will change according to the gender of male and female students,the other five perceptual learning styles have no correlation with gender.(3)Auditory,kinesthetic and individual perceptual learning styles are correlated with students' learning achievement,but there is no significant correlation between visual and tactile perceptual learning styles and students' learning achievement.This paper analyzes the cultural,cognitive and pragmatic factors that influence senior high school students' English learning style by interview.Finally,some teaching strategies are put forward: teachers should cultivate students' independence in English class,develop students' creative use of language,develop students' visual image recognition ability and tolerance of ambiguity.This paper puts forward some suggestions for senior high school English teaching.Both teachers and students should improve their awareness of learning styles.Teachers should pay attention to the differences in learning styles between boys and girls,the relationship between learning styles and achievements.Teachers should match teaching styles with students' learning styles.Students should also learn to understand their own English learning styles to improve their English level.
