Vocabulary learning is a very important part of the English learning process.For senior high school students,it is necessary to clarify their own learning styles and choosesuitable and effective vocabulary learning strategies.According to Oxford's learning style classification and O'Malley and Chamot's learning strategy classification,this study uses questionnaires to investigate senior high school students' learning style preferences and the frequencies of vocabulary learning strategies.Then,through the discussion and analysis of the collected data,the author tries to answer these three research questions by investigating a total of 142 senior two and senior three students in Xi'an Qujiang NO.1 High School:(1)What learning styles are preferred by senior high school students? What learning styles are preferred by students in different grades and disciplines?(2)What are the frequencies of vocabulary learning strategies used by senior high school students? How about in different grades and disciplines?(3)Is there a correlation between senior high school students' learning styles and English vocabulary learning strategies? If there exists a correlation,how are they related to each other?There are mainly the following findings.Firstly,the most obvious learning styles of senior high school students are extroverted,intuitive-random and visual styles,and the introverted style is the least obvious learning style.Students in different grades and different disciplines have different preferences for learning styles.Secondly,the frequency of vocabulary learning strategies used by senior high school students is moderate.The most frequently used strategies are the contextual guessing and emotional strategies,and consolidation strategies are used least frequently.Students of different grades and disciplines have different frequency of using vocabulary learning strategies but not obviously.Finally,there is a correlation between senior high school students' learning styles and vocabulary learning strategies,and the correlations between some variables are significant.In response to the above research results,this study also provides some teaching suggestions for teachers to discover students' learning styles,cultivate students' English vocabulary learning strategies,and help students to find proper English vocabulary learning strategies according to their learning styles.In this way,teachers can guide students improve their English vocabulary learning performance.
