Smelting and casting industry is an important part of Chinese ancient handicraft industry.Compared with other handicraft industry, smelting and casting industry has high production technology requirements and complicated procedures, which reflects the level of civilization development and affects the degree of civilization of society. The smelting and casting workshop can intuitively reflect the development of the smelting and casting industry. The article takes the remains of the smelting workshop in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty as the research object, and uses archaeological research methods such as stratigraphy and typology based on the founding of the founding smelters in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. The smelting workshop's age characteristics, regional distribution, location selection, internal production status and production organization structure are comprehensively studied, and related issues are discussed. The full text is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction. It mainly expounds and defines the related concepts of the article, clarifies the research object of the article, and combs the history and current situation of the related research in detail, and then proposes the research purpose, meaning and method of the article. The second part summarizes the archeological findings of the foundry workshops in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.According to the identification method of the smelting and casting workshop sites,at least 49 copper smelting workshops,49 iron smelting workshops and 11 copper and iron smelting workshops were found in the 34 sites.According to the distribution area of the ruins, the ruins are classified into Zhouzhengsanjin Cultural Area,Chu Cultural Area,Qin Cultural Area,Qilu Cultural Area,Yan Cultural Area,Wuyue Cultural Area and other areas for narration. The third part is the concrete analysis of the founding smelting workshop sites in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty by region. The classification and analysis are mainly based on the epochal characteristics, regional distribution, location selection, and production categories of the smelting workshops in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. It was found that large-scale iron smelting production was born in a copper casting workshop during the Spring and Autumn Period, and gradually achieved production independence during the Warring States Period. As the scale of smelting and casting production in each region expands, the official control of the smelting and casting workshop tends to relax, and the workshop can be established in a large area outside the capital;the production division within the smelting and casting workshop is more meticulous, forming a multilevel production organization structure. The fourth part analyzes and discusses the related issues of smelting production. On the basis of the previous research, this paper analyzes the control mode of the smelting and casting industry in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and discusses the control situation of the smelting and casting industry in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty from the circulation and control of raw materials, the control of technology in the smelting and casting workshop, the management of official policies and systems, etc. The fifth part is the conclusion. The main conclusions of the article are summarized. At the same time, the shortcomings of the article research are also put forward.
