The Research On Jin Xueyan

Jin Xueyan was an official and intellectual during the years of Jiajing and Longqing in Ming Dynasty,and was one most important local worthies in Jining,Shandong Province.He was very famous for submitting Jiang Qiu Cai Yong Shu.His Jin Liang Cheng Xian Sheng Ji and Jian Cun Ji were preserved to this day.Some intellectuals in Ming and Qing Dynasties paid attention to his achievements of poetry and prose.This paper takes Jin Xueyan as the major object of study,analyzes the creation and artistic characteristics of his poetry and prose,explores literary thoughts of his works by reading his works repeatedly and earnestly.The main body of paper consists of five chapters,involves many aspects like Jin Xueyan’s lifetime,intercourse,works,literary thoughts and so on.The first chapter elaborates Jin Xueyan’s family,lifetime and writings.The first part discusses the family situation of Jin Xueyan,introduces some very close relatives and development of the offspring of him,shows the inheritance of Jin family in Jining.The second part mainly expounds Jin Xueyan’s lifetime.This part divides his lifetime into three stages including growing into a competent official,performing illustriously as an official in various regions and becoming an official with a lot of power.This part gives a portrait of his lifetime by reading and sorting out lots of literature and history information.The third part discusses extant writings and lost ones of Jin Xueyan individually and points out mistakes in some information for his writingsThe second chapter mainly focuses on the situation of Jin Xueyan’s intercourse The first part discusses the intercourse between Jin Xueyan and some reversionary writers including Hu Zuanzong,Li Panlong and Xie Zhen and analyzes the relationship between Jin Xueyan and reversionary poets society.The second part introduces the deep friendship between Jin Xueyan and the followers of Yang Ming-school including Luo Hongxian and Zou Shouyi.The third part discusses the good relationship between Jin Xueyan and some friends of Tongnian like Xue Yingqi,Mao Kai and Zhang Han in order to demonstrate the personal charm of Jin Xueyan.The fourth part investigates the connection between Jin Xueyan and some contemporary important writers like Yang Shen,Mao Kun and Kong Tianyin so as to understand Jin Xueyan’s life clearly.The third chapter studies Jin Xueyan’s poetry creation.The first part discusses the contents of his poetry in detail and divides his poetry into main four types including tour poems,responding poems,lyric poems and leisure poems.The second part mainly summarizes the artistic characteristics of his poetry.Jin Xueyan wrote lots of poems with abundant genres and quoted plentiful allusions into his works.His many poems have natural,fluent and elegant characteristics and some poems embody vigorous and forceful features.His poems usually exude the sincere or plaintive feelings to readers.He liked to think about the meaning of life by expressing Taoist,Buddhist and Yi-ology.The fourth chapter investigates Jin Xueyan’s prose primarily.The first part discusses the genres and contents of his prose.This part divides his prose into forewords,chronicles,epitaphs,Za Wen,Zou Shu,and Ci Fu to show the general situation of his writing.The second part focus on summarizing the artistic characteristics of his prose by connecting with the specific creations.He is so scrupulous to express his views and quite thorough in his analysis of many problems in some prose.Some of his prose fills with genuine and strong emotions.He usually elucidated the philosophy of life by thinking dialectically in his prose.The fifth chapter mainly expounds Jin Xueyan’s literary thoughts.The first chapter analyzes his reversionary tendency and some criticisms about the Eight-part essays.Jin Xueyan was influenced by the school of six dynasties and early tang dynasty deeply.The second part discusses how he advocated the literary thoughts in six dynasties and early tang and analyzes the background in Jiajing fourteen years in the literary world.The third part connects with the historical background and focuses on the expressions of Jin Xueyan including his daily life and literary thoughts influenced by the Yang Ming-school.
