With the development of Education Informatization 2.0 and the requirements and suggestions for the implementation of blended learning in the new English curriculum standards for senior high schools,it is necessary and forwardlooking to try to apply blended learning to the research of English teaching in the stage of basic education.Blended learning integrates the students’ online autonomous learning and the traditional face-to-face classroom teaching,and integrates the advantages of both.The researches on blended learning at home and abroad focus more on vocational education,skills training and higher education,but rare in the basic education stage,especially in primary school English teaching.In this study,questionnaire,experiment and interview were adopted as the main research instruments.With the help of the platform of "17 Xiaoxue",the comparative experiment was carried out in two homogeneous classes of the fifth grade in Huaiyin Primary School of Huai’an City.Three problems were explored namely:(1)How does blended learning affect students’ interest in vocabulary learning?(2)How does blended learning affect the development of students’ autonomous vocabulary learning ability and strategies?(3)What is the effect of blended learning on English vocabulary achievement of higher grade primary school students?The conclusions of this study were as follows: ⑴ Before the teaching experiment,the students in the experimental class and the control class had no significant difference in their interest in English vocabulary learning.After the teaching experiment,the students in the experimental class had a significant increase in their interest in learning English.Blended learning could enhance the interest of higher grade students in vocabulary learning.⑵ Before the teaching experiment,there was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class in the ability of autonomous learning and learning strategies.After the teaching experiment,the ability of autonomous learning and learning strategies of the experimental class were significantly improved.Blended learning could promote the development of autonomous vocabulary learning ability and strategies of primary school students.⑶The independent sample t test showed that there was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class in the vocabulary pre-test.In the vocabulary post-test,the scores of written test,reading test and total score of the experimental class were all higher than those of the control class,and the listening test score was significantly higher than that of the control class.The paired sample t test showed that there was no significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test of the control class,and the post-test results of the experimental class were significantly higher than the pre-test results.The results showed that blended learning was helpful to improve the performance of the primary school students in English vocabulary learning.In view of the above conclusions,this study suggests that first-line English teachers in primary schools should pay attention to the researches and applications of blended learning,the cultivation of primary school students’ interest in English vocabulary learning,the cultivation and promotion of primary school students’ abilities and strategies of autonomous learning of English vocabulary,and also help students to form a good habit of using the Internet healthily and safely.
