Since the research of Elbaz in 1980 s,practical knowledge of teachers has become a hot topic of research in the field of teacher education.With the further development of basic education curriculum reform in China,higher requirements have been placed on the knowledge and ability of English teachers in middle schools.Therefore,professional development of teachers is getting more and more attention.Teachers' knowledge runs through the professional development of teachers,as a core component of teachers' knowledge,practical knowledge has become a research hotspot in the field of education.However,the research focuses mostly on the definition,characteristics,composition and function of teachers' practical knowledge and there is a lack of research on actual teacher actions.Therefore,this study attempts to carrying out basic analysis of the literature,160 English teachers from four different middle schools were chosen as the research subjects.The questionnaire design is based on Chen Xiangming's research of components of practical knowledge,investigating from the seven dimensions of teacher's educational beliefs,knowledge about self,knowledge about learners,situational knowledge,strategic knowledge,critical knowledge and environment.4 teachers at different stages are chosen as interview subjects.Analysis of survey data and interview results reveals that teachers of different genders differ in their situational and strategic knowledge;Teachers' practical knowledge of different ages differs in four dimensions: teacher's educational beliefs,knowledge about self,knowledge about learners,and strategic knowledge;teachers of different majors have differences in their teachers' educational beliefs,knowledge about themselves,and contextual knowledge;teachers of different school types have differences in their teachers' educational beliefs and knowledge about themselves.Based on the actual situation,using the knowledge management theory SECI model to explore the influencing factors and development paths of practical knowledge of high school English teachers.According to the creation model analysis of teachers' practical knowledge,there are influencing factors of "personal domain" and "other domain".In view of this,from the perspectives of "socialization","externalization","systematization","internalization" and "BA" of the model,the path of the generation of practical knowledge of teachers is analyzed.It is hoped to provide reference materials for the professional development of contemporary high school English teachers.
