Huang Binhong's artistic achievements have a great influence in the field of modern landscape painting.His works of art contain profound cultural accomplishment and rich cultural connotation,and the form of artistic language and the style are unique.In his art career,he devoted himself to the study of Chinese excellent traditional culture and Huizhou culture.In the long-term traditional painting study,he learned from the tradition and ancients,which helped him achieve self-innovation and transformation.His works' quality is famous for its light and elegant style,dry and light ink.In his life,he experienced three important periods of historical change: the late Qing Dynasty,the Republic of China and the new China.His painting art can not be separated without the influence of traditional culture,especially pay attention to tradition and the cultural meaning and emotional expression of painting.Based on the traditional brush and ink,he advocated that "learn from nature" which means that painters should feel and understand the law of brush and ink in the natural world.Meantime,he summed up the law of "five strokes and seven inks" from practice and embodied the nature of artworks with skills and spirit of exquisite brush and ink.With the influence of traditional culture,the inner character and spirit of the painting works are endowed.The unique meaning and aesthetic value of brush and ink are transmitted in his landscape painting works,which makes his artistic achievements famous and unique in the painting world.Chinese traditional culture is broad and profound,and the art of painting coexists with it.Confucianism and Taoism had a profound influence on Huang Binhong's landscape painting creation,especially on his artistic style and the transformation and formation of the concept of brush and ink,which was reflected in the early "delicate and elegant" painting,and the middle-late stage's "thick and colorful".With the change of times,Huang Binhong always insisted on inheriting the tradition and breaking through it to achieve the innovation in the inheritance and innovation of brush and ink.He devoted himself to the study of predecessors' painting experience,writing language and ink taste.He followed the principles of "learning from nature is better than learning from ancients" and "learning from nature and objective facts".As Huang Binhong said,"what change constantly is physical appearance and spirit are never changed.";"As for panting,abandoning rationale will lead to absurdity and sticking to old methods will lead to pedantry.Would rather be pedantic than be absurd,which is helpful to understand the changes in painting history.";" Changing what should be changed would cause the different physical appearance but the spirit is still the same.However,changing what should not be changed would lead to both different physical appearance and spirit.";" Drawing lessons from antiquities is not copying antiquities and try to understand the shortcomings of this era,but don't correct it so that the principle of changes will be figured out easily.Research and learning need to be done as soon as possible." Huang Binhong advocated "learning from both the north and the south",which opened up a new path for the development of Xin'an School of painting.This paper studies the meaning of ink in Huang Binhong's landscape paintings and deeply analyzes his ink language and painting style.What's more,deep national culture and strong national spirit in brush and ink are revealed.It has certain innovative transformation enlightenment to the research and thinking of traditional ink in landscape painting as well as the creative idea.
