A Research On Chu Quan And The Thought Of Literiture During The Reign Of Hongzhi And Zhengde

Chu Quan is an important writer active in the literary circles during the Hongzhi period of the Ming dynasty.His era and the characteristics of his literary thought are between Li Dongyang and Li Mengyang.The former discussion on Chu Quan mainly defined him as a ancillary writer of "Chaling school".Recently,a systematic study of Chu Quan,which emphasized that Chu Quan was the forerunner of the revival movement in the mid-Ming dynasty,pointed out that Chu Quan promoted "back to the ancients in literature" through the activities of "poems' responsory".However,there are still many unsolved problems,such as Chu Quan's literary thoughts,the details of his participation and organization of poems' responsory and the essence of it.Therefore,this thesis attempts to investigate Chu Quan's social intercourse,literary thought and literary activities more thoroughly,and further to research the truth of poems' responsory during Hongzhi period and the relationship between Chu Quan and "the trend of thoughts of returning to the ancients".The first chapter is the research of Chu Quan's family background,life and impersonal intercourse.This chapter gives a brief overview of Chu Quan's family and life,mainly focusing on the events and experiences that had a great influence on Chu Quan's thought and literary creation.In terms of Chu Quan's impersonal intercourse,the author mainly examines some important people who were neglected in the past.The second chapter is the study of Chu Quan's literary thought.This chapter examines Chu Quan's thought of literary function,analyzing Chu Quan's thought that literature benefits politics,customs and education,reflects reality,and shows one's"inegrity"("qi""jie").Also,this chapter analyzes Chu Quan's ideals of returning to the ancients,and the realistic background of it.The third chapter is the research of Chu Quan and the poems' responsory during Hongzhi period.During the Hongzhi period of Ming dynasty,the activities of poems'responsory were extremely popular.Chu Quan was involved in and organized many poems' responsory activities in Nanjing and Beijing,who was one of the earlist participant and organizer of the event.So,this chapter mainly takes Chu Quan as a clue to research the specific situation of the poems' responsory in the two capitals,also the relationship between the poems' responsory and Li Mengyang's revival movement.Appendix 1 is a table of poems' responsory about Chu Quan.Appendix ? is a chronological life of Chu Quan.Appendix ? is Chu Quan' writing lost.
