Textual And Pragmatic Analysis Of Humorous Effects Of Tucao Discourse

Talk shows are becoming more and more popular in China.Currently,there is an online self-made comedy talk show with the theme of"Tucao"(??)--Roast.In this program,"Tucao"(??)is regarded as a productive speech act.The guests of the show attack the other guests with a verbal expression of"Tucao"(??)in order to achieve the desired program effect.Roast is the first Tucao(??)reality TV show in China.In addition to achieving the purpose of voicing,the voicing discourse used in the program also produced a humorous effect.This special language phenomenon deserves our attention and research.We analyze the discourse in Roast.First,from the perspective of discourse,taking the discourse cohesion theory as the theoretical basis.The cohesive methods and how to use these methods to achieve discourse humorous effects are analyzed.And then two cohesive characteristics of Tucao(??)discourse are summarized.One is the use of Tucao(??)discourse,which of the cohesive devices have become the key factors for the production of humorous effects;the second is which cohesive devices fail to produce humorous effects,and detailed analysis are performed.Then from the perspective of pragmatics,analyze the role played by the cooperative principles,politeness principles and relevance theory in the generation and understanding of humorous effects in Tucao(??)discourse.In Tucao(??)discourse,the principle of violation of cooperation is to obtain the humorous effect of discourse,similarly,the application and deviation of the politeness principle is also to achieve the purpose of humor.At this time,the principle of cooperation and the principle of politeness are in conflict.From the perspective of relevance theory,the specific analysis process of the phenomenon of humor generated by Tucao(??)discourse is consistent with the study of humor by Incongruity-Resolution theory.Based on the explicit mode of communicative reasoning and the contrast between maximum and best relevance,we summarize the production-understandingmechanism of the humorous effect of Tucao(??)discourse.Point out that the contrast between the maximum relevance of discourse and the best relevance is a key factor in generating humorous effects.Based on the previous research,the factors that affect the understanding of the humorous effect of Tucao(??)discourse are analyzed.In the first season of Roast,the nearly fixed participant settings and the psychosocial mechanism of the Tucao(??)guests were the key influencing factors.It was concluded that this program satisfies the two major psychology needs of the audience,namely,psychological pressure relief,cultural entertainment and feel the need for stimulation.The final part of the thesis summarizes the full text,and points out the innovations and deficiencies of the research.
