Cognitive Research Of Metaphorical And Metonymic Traffic Vocabulary In Modern Chinese

With the increasingly close relationship between traffic and human beings,more and more traffic words are no longer just literal meaning,they produce new meaning through metaphor and metonymy.The process of metaphor and metonymy involves cognitive domain,activation mode and integration process.Firstly,this paper defines the traffic vocabulary in Chinese,investigates the source domain and the target domain of the traffic vocabulary that generates metaphor,and finds out the rules of the source domain category and the target domain category and their corresponding relations.For metonymy traffic vocabulary,we analyze the main types of metonymy according to the different metonymy ways.Secondly,according to the different activation modes of traffic words in metaphor and metonymy,they can be divided into single activation and superposition activation.Among them,single activation is the main activation mode,and similarity activation is the main activation mode.The number of overlays is small and the situation is complex.Finally,this paper investigates the conceptual integration mechanism of traffic vocabulary from three aspects: the integration of metaphorical concepts,the integration of metonymy concepts and the conceptual integration of metaphorical metonymy.It is found that the conceptual integration is dominated by the metaphorical conceptual integration,and the preferred way of integration,whether metaphor or metonymy,is the overall lexicographical metaphor or metonymy.
