A Study Into Metaphoricaland Metonymic Nature Of Diet Vocabulary

In the process of studying modern Chinese vocabulary,the predecessors found that vocabulary has both literal meaning and metaphorical and metonymic meaning.As an important part of modern Chinese vocabulary,diet vocabulary are the same.These diet words has certain characteristics in the internal semantic composition.We take part from the dietary words,which have metaphorical and metonymic usage,as the research objects.More than 210 related materials are collected.First,we divide all the collected vocabulary into 6 categories based on their source domain and then divide them specifically under each kind.Then,we divide these words into 4kinds based on their target domain.Next,based on the theories of cognitive linguistics,such as mental space and conceptual integration,we analyze the semantic construction and cognitive mechanism of the metaphorical and metonymic diet vocabulary.And then analyze them from 4 qualia roles of the component,such as formative role ? agentive role and telic role.At last,based on the hybrid model of conceptual blending and qualia structures,we analyze the internal semantic generation mechanism from 3 aspects.At the same time,we also makes a statistical analysis of the proportion of various physical characters highlighted in the conceptual integration process.It also explains that there exists a very important relationship between the naming of diet vocabulary and people's perception?thinking and the way of cognition to the outside world.
