The Western Design In The Pictorial In The Late Qing Dynasty

After the mid-19 th century,with the support of the unequal treaties,western powers dumped all kinds of commodities on the domestic market.The dazzling array of foreign goods and the western style in the concession subtly changed the traditional life concept of the Chinese people and influenced the modern Chinese arts and crafts.The pictorial in late Qing dynasty recorded a series of design changes such as space,utensils and clothing in the social changes,all of which reflected the influence of western design.Therefore,through the study on the representation and background of the western design displayed in the pictorial in the late Qing dynasty,we can understand the influence of western design on the material life of modern China and the attitude of modern Chinese people towards western design.This subject adopts the research methods are mainly literature retrieval method,case study method,comparative method and interdisciplinary study.Content is as follows: the first part,through to the image and the design problem of the relationship between the study of the history which leads to the topic,through the "pictorial" the unique literary form in the society in late Qing dynasty to the discussion of Chinese western elements in the design of modern China,the present research results at home and abroad are summarized and dynamic,discussed the significance of this topic research and the method.The second part analyzes the typical and representative western design in the pictorial magazines of the late Qing dynasty,and explores the influence of western design on China's material and spiritual life when it was first introduced to China in the late Qing dynasty.The third part,from the subjective and objective aspects,discusses the historical background of western design in the late Qing dynasty,and studies the dissemination of western design in China under the special historical background of the late Qing dynasty.The fourth part mainly discusses the attitudes towards western design reflected in the pictorial magazines of the late qing dynasty.Through the study of different attitudes,it discusses the process of western design being accepted by China in the late Qing dynasty,so as to explore the understanding of Chinese people towards Chinese traditional design and the communication between Chinese and western design in the late Qing dynasty.This article through to the late Qing dynasty in the illustrated in interior decoration,space structure,watches and clocks camping,book binding,such as women's clothing design shows the western design elements analysis,found that the Chinese society of late Qing dynasty in the field of different design for the acceptance of western design,though different,but for the development of Chinese design has a certain influence,and in exchange and the collision between Chinese and western design mentality of changes have taken place,for the western design by curiosity,to accept,and ultimately to the thinking of design development direction for China.
