As a visual tool,Mind Map can help students construct the knowledge frame independently,thus forming the holistic view of text The new curriculum reform clearly mentions the dominant position of students in learning.Correspondingly,we should change the traditional teaching methods and enrich the teaching methods.The application research of Mind Map in English reading teaching in junior high school guides students to use Mind Map and find an effective way to improve the quality of English reading teaching.This paper is based on the application research of Mind Map in English reading teaching,mainly discussing these three following issues:First,whether the application of Mind Map stimulates students' interest in English reading or not;Second,whether the application of Mind Map improves students' reading skills in English reading or not;Third,whether the application of Mind Map improves students' reading grades in English reading or not.Specifically,this research chooses two parallel classes from Grade Two as the experimental class and the control class.The traditional reading teaching method is adopted to teach control class,while Mind Map reading teaching method is used in experimental class.Meanwhile,the author selects a narration and an exposition from Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press to design teaching procedure with Mind Map.According to the theoretical basis,the author uses questionnaire,interview and experimentation to do different analysis of the data.The results show that Mind Map is helpful to improve students reading ability.By contrast,reading grades in the experimental class have improved significantly.Besides,Mind Map in English reading teaching is really helpful to stimulate students'interest and improves students' reading skills.It can increase students' sense of participation and self-confidence,as well as enhance their ability to summarize,understand and extract the text information.
