Reading is one of the five language skills and one of the important content in English teaching,which occupies a greatly important part in English learning and accounts for a large proportion of scores in the English test.In today’s exam-oriented education environment,however,students need to master lots of knowledge,teachers have the limited class teaching hours and method of reading teaching is unitary,which cause to the students’ reading interest decline gradually and reading achievement fail to reach the ideal level,even there is a psychological resistance to reading.Therefore,it is necessary to find a new teaching model to change the current situation of English reading teaching.Mind Map,as a new visual teaching tool,presents the content of articles in various and intuitive forms to attract students’ attention and stimulate their interest in reading.In recent years,Mind Map has been widely applied in various fields and achieved good results.However,there are few researches on the application of Mind Map into junior English reading teaching,therefore,this study applies Mind Map into junior high school English reading teaching to explore the effectiveness of Mind Map in English reading teaching.Based on the schema theory,constructivism theory,multiple intelligence theory and knowledge visualization theory,this paper mainly discusses the following two questions:1)What influence does the application of Mind Map to English reading teaching in junior high school have on students’ reading interest and attitude?2)What influence does the application of Mind Map to English reading teaching in junior high school have on students’ reading achievement?In this research,the author selects 102 students from two parallel classes of Grade two in Xianju No.1 junior high school as the research objects.The study lasts for three months,questionnaire,interview and test methods are adopted to collect materials and data,and the data is analyzed through SPSS 25.0.The results show that the application of Mind Map in English reading teaching can cultivate the interest and learning initiative of students in English reading,and help students to have a deeper understanding of reading materials and also improve the teaching effect of English teachers and improve students’ reading achievement.This experiment proves the effectiveness and feasibility of Mind Map in English reading teaching. |
