In the context of globalization,international publicity translation is regarded as the main means of national publicity.Scholars at home and abroad have also carried out in-depth studies on the purpose of international publicity translation and its norms.However,the relation between the translation strategy adopted by international publicity texts and its transmission ability is often easily ignored among those studies of international publicity translation.Memetics describes the transmission process of the information between different languages,the transmission ways,and the criteria for meme selection.The transmission ability of the text of international publicity translation can be examined well from the perspective of Memetics.Therefore,Memetics is adopted in this research to analyze the Government Work Report of 2019 in terms of its translation strategies from grammatical,semantic and pragmatic level,as well as the relationship among different translation strategies and transmission ability of international publicity translation text,which provides a reference for transmission-oriented researches on international publicity translation.Based on the analyses and studies,this thesis draws the following conclusions.In the Government Work Report of 2019,translators mainly promote the spread of the translated text among the target readers from the literal translation strategy meme and the sentence structure change strategy meme under grammatical level,the substitution strategy meme and the paraphrase strategy meme under the semantic level,and the cultural filtering strategy meme,the explicitness change strategy meme and the translator visibility change strategy meme under the pragmatic level.Different translation strategy memes can take effects differently on the transmission ability,which can be mainly reflected in the following aspects.First,using grammatical translation strategies can conform to the self-justification and group utility of memes,which is helpful to improve the acceptance of the translation among readers.Second,using semantic translation strategy meme can meet the requirements of memes' self-reinforcement and expressiveness,which is helpful for meme to improve its spreading effect.Third,using pragmatic translation strategy can meet the requirements of proselytism,consistency,and authority of memes by taking cultural factors into account,so that the target readers can recognize or even take the initiative to use the meme.This research enriches the scope of studying international publicity translation to bring a new direction for the future international publicity translation research,and to instructively make significance of the actual international publicity activities.
