The translation material of this report was excerpted from the first 44 pages(from page 7 to page 50)of the main body of Language Functions Revisited published by the Cambridge University Press in 2012.The excerpted text, which was about theoretical foundations for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR)and "Can Do Statements" as instructional objectives, was typical academic text and contained a large amount of long and complex sentences in abstract and obscure words, thus its content was very scientific, precise and professional. On the basis of memes of translation and on the principle of strong meme, equivalence meme and meme variant, this translation task was conducted and then this report was finished. This translation practice aimed to introduce research on the CEFR,to improve translator's understanding about academic texts and to broaden her translation areas. The report consisted of five chapters:Introduction,Task Description,Task Process,Case Analyses,Summary and Reflection.Chapter one briefly explained the necessity of taking human translation rather than machine translation, introduced the theoretical framework that guided the whole translation process——"memes of translation",and purposes and potential meanings of the practice.Chapter two detailedly introduced the source of the original text, aims and meanings of this task, features of the original text and difficulties in translation.Chapter three presented the whole procedures of this practice:task allocation, choice of theoretical framework, learning from parallel texts, terminology, personal translation schedule, translation and proofreading.Chapter four analyzed translation cases from "grammatic/syntactic","semantic","pragmatic" and"other" levels to report the completion of the task.Chapter five was about conclusion of problems met in translation process and reflections about it.
