Harold bloom is one of the most prestigious literary critics in the contemporary United States. His "Misreading" theory, which was put forward in the 1970s has attracted the attention of the academic circle.Starting from the study of the author's creative psychology.Bloom opposes the traditional view of influence, and thinks that what the previous poets brought to the later poets is only "The anxiety of influence",and the way for the later poets to overcome this anxiety is "Misreading".With the continuous publication of Chinese translations of Bloom's works, domestic scholars have begun to study his "Misreading" theory, but the existing research is not detailed enough, and little attention has been paid to the subjective views embodied in Bloom's "Misreading" theory. This paper will focus on Harold Bloom's "Misreading"theory, and on the basis of carefully reading of his monograph on "Misreading" theory, the dissertation will be developed from the following four aspects:"Misreading"theory's connotation,"Misreading" theory's subjectivity,"Misreading" theory's confrontational presentation of the subject's originality and the rational reflection on the "Misreading" theory,Chapter one summarizes the theoretical connotation of the "Misreading" theory, analyzes the theoretical origin of the influence on Harold bloom, and compares the"Misreading" theory with the traditional impact view, highlighting the subversion of Harold bloom's "Misreading" theory on the impact view. The second chapter, combined with Harold bloom's view of Subjectivity, combs the potential controversy on the question of Subjectivity from four main theory phases:the early Romanticism.Contemporary hermeneutics.subjectivity disintegrated by Linguistics and Roland barthes puts forward "The author is dead".And reveal the subjective characteristics of Harold bloom's "Misreading" theory from two aspects:the definition of "Misreading" and the reconstruction of Intertextuality. The third chapter explores the strategies adopted by the subject of "Misreading"in the confrontation with his predecessors by sorting out the "six revisionary ratios","six self-defense mechanisms" and "six metaphors" proposed by Bloom in The Anxiety of Influence and Misreading Diagrams. Moreover, taking Bloom's discussion on the mutual antagonism between Freud and Shakespeare in the "The Canon of the West" as a example, which was written by Bloom in his later research on literary classics. This paper will expound the empirical evidence of the confrontation between subjects. The fourth chapter is a rational reflection on Harold bloom's "Misreading"theory. While affirming that Harold bloom has subverted the traditional view of Influence and created a new mode of poetry creation, also points out that he has neglected the causes of literature and the inheritance of history, and points out that the theory of "Misreading" brings some enlightenment to the literary circle in China, such as "Classic can't be abandoned" and "Mass culture should be abandoned",etc.Harold bloom's emphasis on subject makes "Misreading" change from "wrong"to "right",which is the original creation of Bloom. In addition,Bloom's subjective view also provides some enlightenment for the study of Chinese literary theory, which is worthy of our in-depth discussion.
