Study On The Space Construction Of Chinese Legends Of Journey In Wonderland

Chinese legends of journey in wonderland belongs to a branch of legends of immortal in essence,combining alchemist and Taoist thoughts in the development process,and to some extent it reflects the social phenomenon of the times and the desire of the people.In such legends we can see the distinctive features of each era.This kind of legend tells a story about mortals entering wonderland for some reason,encounter some wonders in wonderland,and finally return to human world.Most of its narratives present a circular structure:Entering Wonderland,Staying in Wonderland,Returning to Human World(or Looking for Wonderland again).The author had collected more than 60 Chinese legends of journey in wonderland.And the author will discuss the construction of wonderland in such legends from three parts:entering the wonderland,staying in the wonderland and returning to human world.This article is divided into six parts.First part is "Introduction".The introduction includes the definition of research objects,research significance,research status and reflection,research ideas and methods.The author summarizes and reflects on the research status of Chinese legends of journey in wonderland,and points out the significance of such legends in literature,philosophy,psychology,and modern science.The second part is "The Overview and Background of Chinese legends of journey in wonderland".This part will analyze the origins,changes,geographical distribution,basic types,belief backgrounds and other contents of such legends,in order to pave the way for the following.The third part is "Entering Wonderland:The Transformation from human world to Wonderland".This part will focus on analyzing the whole process of mortals entering the wonderland in this kind of legend.The author divides them into two aspects:"encounter"on the event and "space transition" on the geography,and explain in depth all metaphors of "encounter" and "space transition".From this,it is analyzed how such legends construct the wonderland in this part.The fourth part is "Staying in Wonderland:Collision and Reconciliation between Mortal and Wonderland".This part will sort out and analyze the inner structure of the wonderland in this kind of legend.The author divides the experience of mortals in the wonderland into two parts:"wonderful scenery" and "fantastic encounter".Finally this part will combine wonderland and Foucault's "heterotopia" theory to discuss.The fifth part is "Return and Re-search:the Distinction between Mortal and human world".This section will focus on the ending part of this kind of legend.There are generally four situations at the end:"time difference between human world and wonderland","bring back the gifts","re-search the wonderland and the disappearance of the wonderland","the reappearance of wonderland".These four situations often overlap and cross.Among them,the ancient people's view of time and space displayed by time difference between human world and wonderland is the content that this section will focus on.The sixth part is "Method,Essence and Meaning of wonderland Construction".The last part will analyze the narrative techniques,essential reasons and cultural effects of the construction of wonderland.The heaven,the other world,or the wonderland constructed by religions of all countries for human beings,all stem from human's continuous confusion and tireless exploration of the ultimate problems of life,death,fate,and unknown,it is the way that human beings seek in order to soothe the deep regrets and fears inside.The essence of wonderland construction is a spiritual sustenance and ultimate care.
