The 2019 Local Governance Symposium "Local Governance and Politics from an International Perspective" was organized by the Institute for China Rural Studies at Central China Normal University. The symposium invited Prof.Lawrence Ezrow from the School of Government at the University of Essex and researcher Dr.Ruth Dixon from Blavatnik School of Government,University of Oxford. This paper aims to analyze what pre-task preparation interpreters can make under the guidance of schema theory and their impact on the quality of interpretation in detail,so as to improve future pre-task preparation and improve the practical ability of interpretation.Under the guidance of schema theory, the interpreter's pre-task preparation is carried out from three levels, namely linguistic level, content level and formal level. At linguistic level, the interpreter makes preparation mainly by building glossary and getting familiar with pronunciation. In terms of content, the interpreter gets familiar with the topic and collect relevant information. At formal level, the interpreter learns the characteristics of different types of speeches.Through the analysis of simulation interpretation, the interpreter finds that the pre-task preparation guided by schema theory has following positive effects:helping interpreters to simplify note-taking,eliminating ambiguity, predicting the content of speakers more precisely, helping interpreters to omit unimportant points and lowering anxiety in the process of interpretation. At the same time,in the process of pre-task preparation, the interpreter also found some problems, such as inadequate terminology preparation and indigestion of prepared information, which has a negative effect on the quality of interpretation. In response to these questions, the interpreter puts forward some suggestions for future pre-task preparation, that is,to enrich the terminology in a targeted way and digest the prepared information.
