Vocabulary is the most basic element of language and the foundation of English listening,speaking,reading and writing,as well as the prerequisite for flexible application of this language in real life.To some extent,English vocabulary can reflect the English level of English learners.The 2011 edition of English curriculum standards has clear requirements on the vocabulary that middle school students should master.Vocabulary is both the key point and the difficult point for junior high school students in English learning.In general,students adopt the method of mechanical memory for vocabulary learning,which is ineffective.Therefore,it is necessary for students to master the correct and effective learning methods to help them consolidate the English vocabulary.The title of this paper is An Experimental Research on the Mind Map in English Vocabulary Review Teaching for Students of Junior High School.The purpose of this study is to explore the following two problems :(1)Can the Mind Map improve the junior high school students' vocabulary scores ?(2)What's the students' attitude towards Mind Map to consolidate English vocabulary ?In order to study the above problems,80 students(two classes)in grade 7 of a junior high school in Jingbian county,Yulin city,Shaanxi province,were selected as subjects in this experiment,and vocabulary test papers and questionnaire were used as research instruments.The experimental class has been taught vocabularies by Mind Map way.And the control class has been taught vocabularies by traditional teaching method.This experiment lasted for three months.Finally,the questionnaire and test paper were collected and analyzed with SPSS software.By studying students' vocabulary scores and their attitudes towards mind maps before and after the experiment,this paper explores whether applying Mind Map to vocabulary review is effective and whether it can become a learning method for middle school students to learn English vocabulary.Through this experimental study,the experimental results are as follows:(1)Using the Mind Map way in vocabulary review could improve students' vocabulary scores;(2)The Junior high school students have a positive attitude towards the Mind Map way to vocabulary review.Therefore,it's an effective learning method to apply Mind Map to English vocabulary review for the students in Junior high school students.
