The teaching model of English writing is constantly changing with the requirements of the new curriculum reform.English writing is a crucial part of improving students' English ability in high school.At the same time,high school English writing teaching is also a major difficulty for English teachers.Teachers' teaching quality will directly affect the students' English writing level.English is divided into four basic skills: listening,speaking,reading and writing.English writing is the hardest,and English writing practice is also a learning activity that high school students are less involved in.Therefore,teachers should pay attention to the cultivation of students' writing ability in the daily teaching process.Activity theory is based on constructivism theory and social culture theory.It emphasizes the bridge role of activity in learning and the role of learning communities.It focuses on the interaction between teachers and students.Students learn under the guidance of certain rules,and finally achieve the learning goal.The emergence of activity theory provides new ideas for the teaching of English writing,and also conforms to the "activity concept" of English learning proposed in the new high school English Curriculum Standard(2017).Therefore,this paper applies activity theory to senior high school English writing teaching,aiming to improve senior high school students' learning attitude towards English writing and improve their English writing performance.This paper aims to answer the following questions:(1)Can English writing teaching model based on activity theory improve senior high school students' writing attitude?(2)Can English writing teaching model based on activity theory improve senior high school students' writing performance?The subjects of this study are 100 students from a senior high school in Yan'an City,including 52 students in the control class and 48 students in the experimental class.The experimental period is 16 weeks.The two classes choose the same teaching content,but adopt different teaching modes.The control class keeps the previous teaching mode unchanged,that is,teacher assign writing tasks,students write,teachers grade after class.The experimental class adopts the teaching mode under the guidance of activity theory.Through the way of questionnaire and writing test,use SPSS17.0 to analyze the collected data,finally get the experimental results.The results show that the teaching mode of senior high school English writing under the guidance of activity theory helps to change the students' attitude towards English writing,and the students' writing performance in the experimental class has improved after the experiment.
