Instructional design is the bridge between teaching materials and students’ learning activities.Just as what is proposed in General Senior Middle School English Curriculum Standards(2017 edition),English learning should be started from the development of English subject key competencies and should be completed by means of English learning activities and autonomous learning,and students’ competencies such as thinking quality and cultural awareness need to be achieved through migration and innovation activities.All these emphasize teachers’ instructional designs and highlight the necessity of research on instructional designs.This research,with focuses on the overall activity design of a unit of high school English from the perspective of activities and the cultivation of high school students’ English subject key competencies,carries out relevant investigation and data analysis,and applies the overall activity design of a unit from the perspective of activities to the high school English unit instructional teaching,so as to verify whether the overall activity of a unit can promote the students’ English subject key competencies.The research first conducts a questionnaire survey on 32 teachers who use the high school English textbooks published by the People’s Education Press to present the current situation of the overall activity design of a unit,and then it carries out a questionnaire survey on 200 high school students to investigate the current situation of high school students’ English subject key competencies.Through analysis of data on current situation,it is found that high school English teachers do not fully recognize the effectiveness of the overall activity of a unit,and they lack method guidance in their design;and high school students’ English subject key competencies in four dimensions are not well performed.On this basis of the aforesaid investigation of current situation,Compulsory Book1(2019 edition)of high school English textbooks published by People’s Education Press is adopted and five overall activities of a unit from the perspective of activities are designed in this research.And two ordinary classes of a high school in Shaoxing as experimental subjects are chosen.Pre-test and post-test are conducted on student subjects before and after implementation of the overall activities of a unit.Excel and SPSS 25.0 are used for comparison and analysis of students’ questionnaires and tests.It is found that overall activities of a unit from the perspective of activities can effectively promote the development of students’ English subject key competencies and can preliminarily realize the concept of integration of unit contents and activities,which has solved the confusion of teachers on the effectiveness of overall activity of a unit.Therefore,overall activity design of a unit of high school English from the perspective of activities has some practical significance to the improvement of high school students’ English subject key competencies. |
